10 Three Cheap Ways to Upgrade Your Look

Hi guys!!

Due to overwhelming demand for my suggestions (ha!) on cheap ways to upgrade your look, I've come up with a few things. Without further ado:

1.  Give yourself a mani and pedi

Keep your nails neat and trim. Use a decent polish. I like Revlon, but if you're fancy, Essie and OPI are great, too.  I suggest starting with three polish colors: red, pink, and a clear top coat. You can build your collection from there and eventually turn into a polish maniac.  Side note: my dream job is to be the polish namer for OPI, so if y'all see an application for an OPI polish namer based out of Louisville, send it my way, k?

2.  Grow in your brows

Are you an over tweezer?  I was.  Back in college, I was still doing the whole 90s over arched, over tweezed thing that was unfortunately cool for a while.  On a friend's advice, I let my eyebrows grow in and voila!  Turns out a nice, natural brow is much more flattering than the over tweezed caterpillar I was previously sporting.

Browse (no pun intended) a few pictures of celebs or models and notice their brow shapes. Growing them in is hard, but so worth it!!  Pinky promise.

3.  Quit washing your hair so dang much

I guess this is a little confession. I don't wash my hair that often. Like maybe every other day. Okay, every three days. Okay, sometimes every four, but who's counting?

So you're thinking, this sounds like a serious downgrade, you dirty-haired freak. Here's the deal: if you wash your hair less, it will be far healthier.  When you do wash your hair, blow dry it really well. Take your time and style it (flat iron, curl, etc.) really well. Use dry shampoo on non-wash days. In the end, you will save time and your hair will look far better. Win/win, right?

I would love to hear your ideas!

  1. Great post! I've been doing the same thing with my hair lately and i've noticed a big difference. Like you said, the key is fully styling it after washing. Then by day three is dirty enough to style into a cute up-do!

  2. Thanks Brit! Yep, same here. The updos always work better with dirty hair. What kind of dry shampoo do you use? I've been using Tresemme, but its not that great.

  6. such a great post and i really agree with you on the hair washing thing, the more you wash it the dirtier it later gets and snaps more often! every four days is much more reasonable than everyday!
